Lighting a candle mindfully stops the passage of time and within that space can be found peace and remembrance. Peace, where darkness becomes light and remembrance for those who are no longer with us.
My creation of a new candle range coincided with the loss of someone important to me. I lit many candles everyday and the light, fragrance and warm glow brought comfort and acceptance. Then I remembered lighting candles in churches as a girl, an act of offering and of bringing to mind those who have gone.
I have a habit of lighting a candle every day, together with some incense, and sit quietly for some time just to ‘be’ and to set good motivations for the day and beyond.
I love how we can bring meaning to everything we do with mindfulness and good intentions.
